I’m retired now, but in the past, I was a radio talk show host in Chicago. The show I had was called Citizens Lobby and the content of the show was about today’s burning issues. Such as, crime, corruption, taxes, Social Security, etc. I had an audience of over 100,000 listeners. It was an audience call-in type show. Occasionally I had days when there were few call-in viewers. To stimulate my audience into calling in, I found if that when I used the following statement on air, the phone lines would light up. “The sad part is we are kicking the can down the road in not solving these problems on to our children and grandchildren”. “If this the legacy were leaving for our children, then shame on us.”
You see, it’s one thing for us to turn the other cheek by taking a punch, I can handle that, but it is another thing when it is our children. Mess with my kids and I will definitely respond. Mama bear scenario. I would suggest Foster use this method to enhance his audience participation. Give it a try, it works.
