Transparency, accountability, prevention with easily accessible meta data for all. I know it’s easier said than done, but where to even start?
Intelligence agencies, telecommunication companies, governments, all have access to our meta data. Whether it be gps, cellular, satellite, this data should be easily publicly accessible to prevent and hold criminals accountable. Privacy in 2024 feels obsolete, the cia, ethical hackers, advertising companies and others have tons of data on people but yet lock up journalists and whistleblowers such as Julian assange for lifting the veil when it comes to their war crimes. How can we utilize meta data in a way that respects privacy or get rid of privacy completely for transparency?
I personal would be ok with having all my info available to the public, not saying I have never done anything wrong or controversial, we all have. It is the need for transparency through public available metadata that is easily accessible which will help hold those in positions of power accountable. For example all our phones have gps, satellite signal, audio recordings, video recordings, and we can’t hold rapists accountable or find missing people? How is it the cia is able to black out all their docs in the name of security while we can’t find criminals right in front of us, especially when the tools in our pockets can help us do so? I’m all for public policing as a community endeavor, and educating about how we even obtained our tech and how to use it ethically. No more slave labor for minerals, no secrets, full transparency. I would love to hear ideas and opinions.
Ai and facial recognition used in our favor to prevent crimes. publicly available data bases or websites that pinpoint crimes so we can all act accordingly? Of course these are currently not used in our favor, just wondering who else wants to use our tech for transparency rather than secrecy?
