  • The sound of silence

I came across this today about Simon and Garfunkel’s original song Sound of Silence, a rendition redone by the group Disturbed. It’s become a revelation online with over one billion downloads, maybe the most downloaded music in history. I suggest you look at a neurologist take on this song at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HgaTCwA5kY .

Then look at the video from Disturbed with lyrics at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Dg-g7t2l4

I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks for this link, Raymond. I think the analysis is right on about how so many in the media, government and entertainment want to hook us and manipulate us through the sympathetic nervous system and its fight or flight response, rather than appealing to the more deepening and relaxing parasympathetic system. I think it’s no coincidence that the video makers for the Disturbed’s version shows the black-and-white, shadowed, intense and scary look for the singer of this remarkable song… And it seems to have touched a chord with many people who are probably feeling a lot of fear and pain.
